FAQs
-
Yes, but we do recommend purchasing fittings from quality suppliers. We work with Zip Plumbing Plus as our main supplier. If you see something you like on another supplier site, check in with us as often we can get it at a better price through Zip Plumbing. We know the price of alternative brands/suppliers might be tempting, in the long run these - too good to be true - cheap taps will break down pretty quickly creating costly repairs. Some offshore taps are not compliant with the NZ building code and we are not able to provide a warranty. Before purchasing, check with us and we can let you know if we can fit them for you.
-
Yes! The cost will vary depending on access and how far we have to move the plumbing. Also if you’re not replacing the benchtop, remember moving the sink will leave a big hole where the existing sink was. If you have a concrete slab base the cost for moving plumbings can be higher than if we have access under the house. Something to consider when planning!

A remodel completely changes the look and feel of your kitchen and could include moving plumbing or even location of your kitchen within your layout. A renovation is more of a refresh. Everything stays in your existing layout but you upgrade all (or some) of the fittings, benchtop and cabinetry.
-
If you have an investment property or are planning a larger remodel down the track but your current kitchen isn’t liveable, upgrading the taps and sink, repainting the cabinetry and refreshing the splashback are clever ways to modernise a kitchen on a budget.
-
Renovating a kitchen can vary hugely in cost. If you’re looking for a quick refresh you could spend less than $5,000 by updating the benchtop, sink, tap and cabinetry hardware. If you decide to collaborate with an interior designer or kitchen design company to create your dream bespoke kitchen, a starting budget of $20,000+ is realistic.
-
You can refresh your kitchen for $10,000 if you took on some of the work yourself - like installing cabinetry or repainting cabinets and leaving the layout as is. We highly recommend you pay a professional to complete any plumbing or electrical work as any mistakes could end up far more costly.
-
It depends on the size of your kitchen renovation but it can take up to 4-6 weeks for a large scale renovation, as it involves several different trades. If you’re only updating fittings like taps or plumbing in a filter, once we have the parts we can do this in a day.

A low pressure system affects the water flow from your taps and shower. Older homes (70s and older) that haven’t been renovated are likely to have low pressure systems - you’ll know because the hot water runs very slowly out of the tap and your shower is probably no more than a dribble. A mains system balances the pressure allowing you to have good flow with hot and cold water - and much more enjoyable showers. Most tapware is designed to fit mains pressure systems, so if you’re doing a kitchen renovation it’s a great time to upgrade your water system too.
